Meet the keynote speaker for ISAM 2024
Ruth Amos
Ruth Amos is an award winning British Inventor, Presenter and Professional Speaker.
At the age of 16, Ruth invented the StairSteady, which is sold across the U.K. and Europe and licenced in Canada, America and Australia. In 2006, Ruth was ‘Young Engineer for Britain’ and has since gone on to found multiple STEM outreach projects and programmes. She is passionate about helping more young people (particularly girls) to understand engineering and science and at least hopefully see it as a career option.
Her YouTube channel, ‘Kids Invent Stuff’, run with fellow engineer Shawn Brown, has been featured on national and international news outlets as well as primetime TV. Together they have had over 5 million views, over 10,000 invention ideas submitted by children and have inspired thousands of young people to think differently about engineering.
In 2023, Ruth was awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Rooke Award for the public promotion of engineering.
